BSR T7/5 cells are baby hamster kidney 21 (BHK-21) cells constitutively expressing T7 RNA polymerase (1). These cells are grown in Glasgow MEM (GMEM) (Gibco-Life technologies) supplemented with 2 mM L-glutamine, 2% (vol/vol) MEM amino acids (GibcoLife technologies), and 10% FBS. Every other passage, the media was supplemented with 2% (vol/vol) geneticin (Gibco-Life technologies) to select for cells that retain the T7 RNA polymerase construct.
