BioVector® HASTR/ci35 is an immortalized human astrocyte cell line derived from fetal brain tissue. The line was established via transduction of the temperature-sensitive SV40 large T-antigen (tsA58) and human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT). Its defining feature is "conditional immortalization": cells proliferate continuously at 33°C, while at 37°-39°C, they cease division and exhibit a more mature, differentiated astrocyte phenotype. It is a premier tool for studying neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier (BBB) dynamics, and astrocyte function in neurodegenerative diseases.

4. Key Usage Notes

Marker Profile: The cells express astrocyte markers such as Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) and S100B. Marker expression is optimally analyzed under differentiated conditions (37°C).
Note: Handle BioVector® HASTR/ci35 cells under Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) conditions. To ensure the unique temperature-sensitive phenotype remains stable, always use BioVector® DMEM Medium and BioVector® Fetal Bovine Serum.
